Since MCO commenced in mid-March last year (2020), the idea of having a holiday is just like a far-fetched dream ☹ The only short getaway that I managed to enjoy with my hubby was during September last year, we went to Melaka for a simple honeymoon after our ROM (Registration of Marriage).
As for now, it seems almost impossible to cuti-cuti Malaysia ☹ On the bright side, this actually helps to open our eyes to our surrounding, do you agree? 😊 I’m a Selangorian, & I’ve studied & worked in Kuala Lumpur for a couple of years. Despite spending almost my whole life living in Klang Valley, I’ve to admit that I’ve not explored Kuala Lumpur & not doing her justice.
Kuala Lumpur, or more commonly known as KL, is the national capital of Malaysia, and also the largest city in the country. Since it’s so huge, it’s definitely worth exploring 😊 Allow me to share top 5 things to do in KL today 😉
Yes, no one should miss Petronas Twin Tower when they visit KL, especially at night! It was the tallest building in the world from 1998 to 2004, & remains the tallest twin towers in the world. I used to work opposite KLCC, & cuz I had to pass by KLCC everyday, it became my favourite shopping mall during those years.
As I always had to work late, I got to enjoy the night view; whenever I felt stressed after work, my mood lightened up when I looked up. Let me show you the night view; isn’t it awesome!

Oftentimes, we only get to imagine how’s it like to live in a palace. Well, the old National Palace, which was the official residence of the King & Queen of Malaysia, was opened to public since February 2013.
I visited it once, back in year 2017, when my Korean friend suggested this place. It was one of the places that she wanted to visit so badly before she travelled to her next destination, so I readily agreed! It was an interesting place to visit, as we learned about how our royal family’s place of residence looks like. I wish I could share more photos, unfortunately, we were not allowed to take any photos when we were inside the Palace.
I had to thank my Korean friend for wanting to visit the Royal Museum & invited me along. Haha, it’s funny for a non-Malaysian to invite a Malaysian to visit such an iconic place!
Another place that one should visit is Petaling Street, Chinatown. I used to study at a college located nearby Petaling Street, & we often came here for our lunch & dinner breaks! Haha, Malaysians love food!
Petaling Street is one of the most famous tourist spots. We have lots of shops & stalls selling all sorts of products at very reasonable price! This is also a place where we can brush up our negotiation skills, & buy the things we want at very good price 😊
I came here with my Korean friend too & we enjoyed the famous soybean milk under the scorching sun 😊
Let’s enjoy some aircon in our National Art Gallery located at Jalan Temerloh, off Jalan Tun Razak! I said “hi” to Mona Lisa during the exhibition in year 2019.
To be honest, I wouldn’t explore this place as I’m not an “art person”, but I did! I didn’t regret visiting this place alone at that time. It was therapeutic to go thru each & every art piece by Leonardo da Vinci & as I went on my own, I explored the works of our local artists too. I must say, it was an awesome experience!
Let’s get near to nature! As I’m from Selangor, it’s a bit too far to travel to KL. Besides, there’re other parks that are nearer to home whenever I want to go jogging or get to the nature. I had the chance to visit Lake Gardens last year, when MCO was loosened a bit, to take video for my wedding.
This place is great for outdoor workout, picnic & it’s also a popular choice for couples to take their pre-wedding shoots here. This place is definitely worth visiting!
1 day is definitely not enough to explore the whole KL. If you’re from Klang Valley, do consider having a staycation in KL; & if you’re from elsewhere, getting a good place to stay in KL is a must, so that you can get recharged & refreshed before your next destination 😊
